Situation
The WTS2 Stage 2 Project (Project) will facilitate the expansion of production from B1 to support ore demand and enable conformance to the DCS plant crusher feed moisture constraints.
The project includes the following:
- construction of a primary crushing facility at WTS2 connected to existing infrastructure at WTS1 via a proposed 13 km overland conveyor (OLC);
- expansion of non-Process infrastructure (NPI) at the WTS2 hub;
- water supply infrastructure, power network extensions, communications extensions;
- utilisation of existing WTS1, TP Process plants, stockyards and train load out facilities;
- upgrades to the existing WTS1 OLC; and upgrades to the TP DCS plant.
Solution
Aerison were engaged as the primary contractor to deliver the installation of the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation (SMPEI) and communications works for upgrades to the existing WTS1 overland conveying system and the TP DCS.
Design and fabricate one (1) 33kV transformer kiosk enclosure complete with High Voltage and Low Voltage end enclosures.
The scope included:
Engineering, fabrication and site works covering; mechanical, structural, civil, piping and services, hydraulic and lubrication distribution, grease lubrication, electrical instrumentation, controls and communications, field devices and PLC equipment, surface treatment and protection.
Peak Manning:
- 65 – Project Management, Engineering & supervision
- 200 – Direct & Indirect trades
- Project Manhours: ~90,000-man hours
Outcome
The project was successfully delivered over two shutdowns with a safe completion of tie ins on the overland conveyor system which spans 15km between work sites.
