Situation

Aerison were engaged to conduct the feasibility study of the facility to remove and replace the flooring with a chemically
resistant floor that would allow multi product use. The study extended into detailed design and construction of the floor.

Solution

Aerison was engaged as the primary contractor to deliver the engineering and design, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fabrication, installation, and commissioning works.


The scope included:

  • All operations were performed whilst the port remained in operation.
  • Remove and replace the existing iron ore floor with a hard wearing, chemically resistant floor that would ensure no contamination of stored export product.
  • Structural integrity assessments and strengthening/ remediation works were carried out to the superstructure.

Outcome

  • Chemical resistant additive in the concrete mixture to maintain integrity of the concrete under a wide variety of bulk products.
  • New heavy vehicle entrance allowing thoroughfare for triple road trains.
