Aerison was founded in 1988 and originally known as HVAC Process Engineering Pty Ltd.

Building a core capability in environmental services the company changed its name to HPS Environmental Pty Ltd and quickly built a strong reputation in providing Mechanical Engineering, Design, Construct and Installation capabilities in Air Pollution Control, Dust Management, Water and Waste Water Treatment and Acoustic Engineering and Noise Abatement.

In addition to the environmental services, the company also established itself as a multi-discipline service provider undertaking design and construct projects on Process and Non-Process equipment across the Minerals and Mining, Oil and Gas, Infrastructure and Power Generation Industries.

In 2005 the company was acquired by Enerflex Ltd a Canadian listed Multinational Engineering, Design and Manufacturer of equipment and systems for the downstream Oil and Gas sector.

In 2011, multinational Enerflex Ltd withdrew from the Mechanical Installation (contracting) market in Australia with Hong Kong Private Equity fund group Clearwater Capital acquiring the company and rebranding the business as Aerison. The name Aerison is derived from the combination of Latin and Greek words for Air and Sound.

In November 2016 Giuseppe Leone and Daniel Hibbs acquired Aerison from Clearwater Capital as the fund exited the business from its portfolio of assets.
